5 ways to improve your education

02.09.2022

What can you do to improve your education? It is crucial to remember the importance of education and the concept of lifelong learning.

Education as a subject is often criticized and it is certainly a fact that there are problems and obstacles related to it, but we should also ask ourselves what we, as individuals, can do to improve the situation.

As a high school student or student, can you do something and influence to improve your education? Of course, you can!

1) Actively listen People often think that multitasking ie. performing multiple actions at the same time is useful and possible. If you ask me, none of the activities you start will be of any use because you won't devote enough time to any of them. It is precisely for this reason that I emphasize active listening in the first place, because when we focus only on what we are listening to, the brain creates a story in our head, imagines images, makes mini-movies, and thus we remember information much more easily.

2) Write it down No matter how much it seems to you at the moment and the thought goes through your head: "I will remember that", it is hardly true. Simply, the brain is not a machine and cannot store and remember countless information every day. That is why it is useful to take any notes, even if they are short, which can trigger the memory and reactivate it by these keywords.

3) Explore One of the key learning aids is the Internet, that endless database of information available to us. I can hardly think of any aspect of learning and education in general that didn't involve Google or YouTube. Whether you're a visual or an auditory type of person, there's no doubt that a few YouTube videos will help with whatever you're struggling to master.

4) Ask One of the important aspects of education is when you seek help when you need it. And another important thing when asking questions is to be sure of what you are asking as a question. This basically means that after you listened to the interlocutor, got the information, and tried to find the answer yourself, but it didn't work, you looked for help. This is the path you should take in order to gain that security. And in the end, it will almost certainly have a positive outcome.

5) Repeat, repeat, repeat The proverb that perhaps best illustrates the importance of repetition in learning and education, in general, is the famous “Repetition is the mother of knowledge (Repetitio est mater studiorum)”. Even research shows that this is one of the best ways to learn and remember because the brain is then activated much more than when we read or watch something because through repetition we connect the information we have and supplement it with new ones that we have just acquired.

These tips are universal and we can apply them at school, university and at work because in all these places it is expected that we know something. Well, let's show that we can master any challenge that comes our way and advances our education today!
